Kumaseam story 

Kumaseam is my attempt at active alignment of my present day interest with gratitude for my history – my mom, grandma, and aunties who inspired and supported my sewing journey. I love that making clothing fulfills extremes:

  • Individual expression + collective knowledge building
  • Investment in slow fashion + excitement of something “new”
  • Precision + imperfection
  • Fine art + practical craft (apocalypse skill)

Who We Are

Could you be a part of Kumaseam?

I am no purist, but I prefer to use secondhand fabrics and use scraps however I can (pockets, scrunchies, filling pillows). Above all, sewing is a delight, especially when I see friends wearing a garment I made start to finish!
